Management plan is currently being developed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation. It aims to develop management strategies to manage and regulate the activities under 5 main areas.
01. Fisheries Management
- Regulate fisheries through a permit system
- Protect traditional fishing rights
- Prohibit commercial fisheries
02. Visitor Management
- Establish mooring buoys
- Regulate snorkelling and diving through a permit system
- Establish a code of conduct
- Train local operators in best practices
03. Community Management
- Support sustainable livelihood programmes
- Provide capacity building for non extractive reef based livelihoods
- Engage local communities in monitoring and surveillance
04. Education and Awareness
- Information sharing with local resource users
- School programmes
- Visitor awareness
05. Research
- Develop a long term coral reef monitoring
- Identify priority research projects
- Collaborate with partners to conduct applied research to support management
