At the beginning of the trail, visitors get an opportunity to paddle through a beautiful stretch of mangroves on both sides, dominated by Rhizophora spp. and Avicennia spp. On the left side, as visitors paddle in the southeast direction of this section, the water is very shallow and sandy, so it is advised to stay on the right side to paddle smoothly.

Gliders may experience a channel across the river where villagers guide buffalo herds from the east bank to the west, creating a perfect scenic view. Visitors could also see small river islets filled with mangroves in this section. The middle section of this trail contains abandoned fishing gear and traps, and visitors can observe that the sides of the fish trap walls are woven using tree branches, allowing them to explore boat culture associated with nature.

Further down this path, visitors may experience more local cultural scenes, such as a Hindu kovil, small Wadiyas built on the shallow riverbed, and even drift gill nets. At the next Y-junction, visitors should take the left path which leads toward the sea. This part is also particularly rich in birdlife diversity, including egrets, cormorants, Brahminy kites, and even monkeys could be spotted sometimes.

Towards the end, the channel curves and rocky outcrops rise from the water. Here, visitors are advised to stay on the left to avoid damaging the kayak. Finally, the trail opens up to a scenic view of the ocean.

Stage 2A: Kayankerni Bridge → Vattawan Beach Trail Specifications Length : 2.88 km Average Duration : 2 –
